Located about 27 km from Yogyakarta, Parangtritis may be reached in two ways, through Kretek village or the longer one but more well established road through Imogiri and Siluk Village. Parangtritis is an enchanting sloping beach combined with rocky hills, dunes, and a white sandy beach. Besides being famous as a recreational spot. Parangtritis is also a sacred place. Many people come to the beach to do meditation. Up to now, this area is remaining functioning as the place to perform the traditional ceremony called Labuhan. Many hotels and restaurants are available for sunbathe lovers.
 
It also offers some interesting place such as Parang Kusumo, Dataran tinggi Gambirawati dan Goa Langse. Cemetery of Syeh Maulana; Magribi, Cemetery Syeh Bela Belu and Cemetery Ki Ageng Selohening.
 
HISTORY
Parangtritis beach is one of the most sacred beaches in Yogyakarta. It is a historical place that closely related to the mysterious legend of the Queen of the south sea " Kanjeng Ratu Kidul ", who together with her confident, the feared Nyai Loro Kidul, the ever youthful and beautiful queen, rein over sea nymphs and spirits. The Legends say that Kanjeng Ratu Kidul was married to one of the Mataram Monarch, Panembahan Senopati whom she visited and communed.
 
This beach is also used as a place for several religious ceremonies such as Larungan from Sultan Palace. Next to Parangtritis, Parangkusumo, is a place with a pool where people believe that many diseases can be cured. This pool was found and maintained by Sri Sultan.
